Putting it all Together

Imagine that you are in the Prado Museum in Spain.  You see this very famous painting.  You want your students to understand the significance of it and to interact with you in discussing and writing about this artwork. 

Ask them to write a letter to a friend who has never seen this painting.  Ask them to describe it in such a way that their friend back home could get a good understanding of what it looks like.

Read about this painting beforehand and then lead your group in a discussion.  Use the format for looking at and writing about art in the class.  Ask questions.  Be patient.  Be supportive of your student's answers.  Make it relevant to current events.
