ART for the School Librarian Workshop

School librarians and media specialists have a unique opportunity when it comes to incorporating Art into their role as educator. 

This class will present ideas, information, and suggestion to help you gain confidence.  Topics include:

Teach children, teens, and teachers literacy skills for looking at art.

Introduce students to important artists. 

Engage students through art activities.

Locate and share Art Resources.

Learning how to create library art exhibits.

Tips for creating-Displays, Presentations, Signage

Pairing books with art projects.

 

This 4 week workshop is entirely online and facilitated by an experienced

art professor. It provides an opportunity for networking with others

with your similar interests and an art expert.

 

 

Valerie Colston, M.A. author of "200 Projects to Strengthen Your Art" (Released April 1, 2008) published by Barrons Educational Publishers is the developer and presenter of the workshop.  Her most recent book Teens Go Green! Tips, Techniques, Tools and Themes, for YA Programming was released in  December 2011. Ms. Colston has been teaching art and art history classes for several years in San Diego, California and online.  Her award winning Art Teacher on the Net art resource website is visited by teachers around the world.  Along with teaching Ms. Colston was an art project consultants for the Wyland Foundation Oceans Teacher program, and has taught many 100 Art ideas for Teachers workshops at the University of California, San Diego Extension.
