Intergenerational Art Projects and Art Programming for Librarians

Every generation likes art and has something creative to contribute to the other.  This workshop presents art project and art programming ideas for librarians who want to bring multigenerational activities into their library programs.  The 4 week online workshop taught by a college art instructor, author and library art performer, Valerie Colston.

The following is a sample art project.

Picasso Inspired "Generational Hands"

Instructions for this project.

1.  Trace the hand of the elder and hand of the child to create a pattern.

2.  Cut flowers, stems, and hands from construction paper or felt fabric.

3.  Form a mural or quilt of all the pieces in a library display.
