Unfortunately, according to Stand Up for Kids,  there are over 2 million children and teenagers living on the streets across the U.S.  About half are under 15 years of age.  Children as young as 9 years old are on their own.  A chilling fact is that each year 5,000 children are buried in unmarked graves because their identity is unknown, and no one has claimed them.  Find out more about this organization and what you and your students can do to help.
